HS FBall: Maroons Offense Turns the Corner Friday Night

The Clinton Maroons offense has been somewhat of a work in progress and Friday night's 50-point explosion has Coach Ron Bass excited.

The Maroons were able to roll Meridian in a Central Illinois Conference matchup Friday 54-20. Coach Bass says it was good to see the offense get going, led by quarterback Mason Walker.

Coach Bass says part of their issues defensively in the first half was an alignment miscommunication by the secondary but once that was corrected, they were able to shut down the Hawks pass attack.

The offense was balanced Friday night for Clinton and Coach Bass says they could have had more of those things. It's about becoming more consistent.

It's Homecoming week at Clinton High School. The Maroons welcome the 2-3 Tuscola Warriors to Clinton. The Maroons are looking for a second signature win after dropping Central A&M a few weeks ago. Beating Tuscola would be another big statement by Clinton.

Game time is 7 pm. Hear all the action on WHOW and all its digital platforms.
