HS FBall: Clinton's Walker Ruled Out vs Sullivan-Okaw Valley Saturday

The Clinton varsity football team will be without QB Mason Walker on Saturday against Sullivan-Okaw Valley.

The IHSA made its decision Tuesday to uphold its policy of a one-game suspension for Walker's action in a late-game altercation with Pontiac Friday night in the regular season finale.

Walker - the speaking captain for Clinton - left the bench as a small scuffle broke out along the Clinton sideline after a kickoff by the Maroons. Walker was trying to break up a scuffle after the play.

Walker's infraction was the fact he left the bench without a helmet and was disqualified from the contest that was well out of hand by that time, as Clinton had just gone up over 40 points after a late game score.

By IHSA rules, Walker has to serve a one-game suspension. Clinton appealed to the IHSA Monday to reduce the suspension but that appeal was denied.

Coach Ron Bass tells Regional Radio his team is trying out a few options at quarterback as Clinton prepares for its first playoff game since 2019.
