In a game heard Wednesday night on WHOW, the Clinton Maroons came from behind to beat the Litchfield Panthers, 68-54, at the 13th Annual Bill Rucks Tournament at Mt. Pulaski High School.
Early on it looked as though Litchfield's up-tempo pace may outrun the Maroons, as they jumped out to a 9-0 lead, and led 21-15 after one quarter. Clinton would warm up in the second, and tie the game 28-28, but Litchfield managed a 30-28 lead at the half.
The Maroons came out of the break hot, and took their first lead at 43-40. Clinton would never trail again, and outscored Litchfield 40-24 in the second half to go on for the 68-54 win.
Clinton was led by Mason Walker's 25 points. He was named the WHOW / Serv Pro of Piatt/DeWitt Counties Player of the Game. Brooks Cluver added 20; Dawson Graves had 16; and Keaton Graves added 7.
Litchfield was led by Tate Dobrinich's 15 points, and AJ Odle's 14. The Panthers are now 1-1, and next play Tri-City at 5pm Friday at Mt. Pulaski.
The Maroons improve to 2-0 on the season, and next play the host Mt. Pulaski Hilltoppers Friday night at 8p.
Our next Maroons Game of the Week broadcast is Friday, December 1st, at 7:30pm when Clinton hosts Maroa-Forsyth.
