Camp Point Central Ends Lena-Winslow Win Strea; Byron Sets State Finals Record

Camp Point Central ended Lena Winslow's win streak and Byron set a state finals record on the first day of the high school football championships from Hancock Stadium on the campus of Illinois State University in Normal.

 

With its 14-0 win in the 1A state title game, Camp Point Central ended Lena-Winslow's run of 32 straight victories - both regular and postseason.

 

The win started a day of thrilling action in Normal.

 

In the 2A title game, Wilmington rolled Athens 28-3.

 

Then in the 3A title game, Byron throttled Mt. Carmel 69-7, setting an IHSA record for the largest margin of victory in a state finals and most touchdowns in a season.
