HS BBBall: Monticello Levels Neoga

In a game heard on WEZC, Monticello scored the game's first 21 points and Maddux Quick scored all his game-high 14 points in the first quarter as the Sages leveled Neoga 72-53 in the opener of the Holiday Hoopla at the Sievers Center on Tuesday afternoon.

 

Quick hit four three-pointers, part of seven three's for the Sages in the first quarter.

 

Ike Young added nine points and eight rebounds. Rai Colber scored nine pionts and Trey Welter added seven points for the Sages.

 

Monticello dished out 20 assists on its 23 field goals and committed just six turnovers. The Sages shot 11-for-28 from three for the game and 48 percent overall. 

 

The Sages turned 19 Indian turnovers into 26 points and scored 22 points in the paint. They also got 25 points from its bench, led by Tyler Blythe and Eli Craft with six points.

 

Quick's fast start that propelled Monticello out to a big lead early earned him the ServPro of Piatt/DeWitt County Player of the Game.
