Kaiden Maurer scored 17 of his game-high 20 points in the second half and Maroa-Forsyth withstood a big punch from Illini Central in the third quarter for a 67-51 win over Illini Central Tuesday night in Sangamo Conference high school boys basketball action from Maroa.
The Trojans led 29-16 at the break. Illini Central trimmed the deficit to 45-40 after three but its comeback flattened out.
Mitch Williams and Zayne Giles each scored 14 points for Maroa-Forsyth who goes to 15-7 overall and 3-1 in the Sangamo.
They travel to Athens Friday before a game at Monticello Saturday at noon against Champaign St. Thomas More in the Illini Prairie/Sangamo Conference shootout.
