HS BBBall: Athens Edges Maroa-Forsyth

Maroa-Forsyth and Athens played back and forth all night but as the Warriors who pulled out the 53-51 victory in Sangamo Conference high school boys basketball action Friday night in Athens.

 

Maroa-Forsyth held a 14-11 advantage after the first frame and a 30-25 lead at the intermission. But Athens rallied back and led 39-38 after the third quarter and held off the Trojans in the fourth.

 

Kaiden Maurer paced the Trojans with 17 points. Zayn Giles added 14 points while Coby Lane scored 11 points.

 

The Trojans are back in action Saturday taking on Champaign St. Thomas More at noon from the Illini Prairie/Sangamo Conference shootout at the Sievers Center in Monticello. Maroa-Forsyth resumes Sangamo play Tuesday night at Williamsville.
