HS GBBALL: Lady Maroons Pull Away From Pioneers In 2A Regionals

In a game heard Saturday afternoon on WHOW, the Clinton Lady Maroons ran away from the U-High Pioneers, 43-32, in a Class 2A Regional matchup at Clinton High School.

It was a close game through three quarters.  Normal U-High jumped out to an early lead, but Clinton got in front, 10-9, after one, and then led, 16-13, at the half.  The Lady Maroons maintained the three point lead, 27-24, at the end of the third, but they would crank up the pressure in the fourth to pull away for the nine point win.

Clinton was led by Clara Dempsey with 13 points, and Reagan Filkin with 12.  Filkin, who scored ten in the second half, was named the WHOW / Serv Pro of Piatt/DeWitt Lady Maroons Player of the Game.

U-High was led by Kari Merriweather's 15 points, and Jaz Thomas with 11.  The Pioneers end their season at 7-24 on the year.

Clinton improves to 21-11 on the season. The Lady Maroons advance to take on Deer Creek-Mackinaw Monday night at 6pm at Clinton High School.  Hear Monday's game on all WHOW platforms!
