HS BBBall: Clinton Tops Tri-Valley

In a game heard on WHOW and all of WHOW's streaming devices, the Clinton Maroons boys basketball team faced off against the Tri-Valley Vikings at Olympia High School by a score of 56-50.

 

Earlier this season Clinton Faced off against the Vikings and lost in a fistfight by a score of 73-58. The Maroons came into Wednesday's game with a chip on their shoulder looking for revenge. 

 

The Maroons avenged its loss from earlier this season with a 66-60 win in Class 2A Regional semifinal action from Olympia High School Wednesday night. 

 

After being down by two points in the first quarter, the Maroons took the lead and never look back. Clinton used a 15-point second quarter to take the lead 30-27 going into the halftime break.

 

The Maroons shared the ball well with three starters in double figures. Mason Walker led the way with 17 points, Keaton Graves added 14, Brooks Cluver scored 12 on his way to being named the Serv-Pro of Piatt-DeWitt Counties player of the game for his tenacious defense against Tri-Valley's leading scorer Brayden Stombaugh.

 

Stombaugh led the way for the Vikings by the tune of 31 points. Marley Neitzel added 11, and no one else scored in double figures.

 

Clinton improves to 27-4 overall. They move on to face the Peoria Manual Rams for the Regional Championship on Friday night at 6:30 pm. Hear the action on WHOW and all its digital platforms.
