Landan Smith came up an out short of a complete game shutout and also helped his cause at the plate as Mt. Pulaski blanked Okaw Valley 5-0 in non-conference high school boys baseball action Wednesday in Mt. Pulaski.

Smith twirled 6 2/3 innings of one-hit ball. He struck out nine and walked three. Luke Martin got the final out of the game to finish off the shutout for the Hilltoppers.

Smith doubled in a run going 1-for-2 with an RBI. Martin, Chance Payne, and Eric Cooper drove in runs for the Hilltoppers who go to 5-0 on the season.

Mt. Pulaski hosts Unity Christian this afternoon.
