HS Baseball: Lincoln Edges Taylorville, Annawan-Weathersfield

Lincoln picked up a pair of victories Saturday in high school baseball action at Lincoln High School.

 

The Railsplitters started the day with a 3-2 win over Taylorville. 

 

Parker Graue went 6 2/3 innings of 2 run ball, allowing one earned run. Colby Glenn preserved the victory with a strikeout of the only batter he faced for Lincoln.

 

Graue struck out three, walked one and allowed four hits. Glenn, Trey Schilling, and Wes Tedrick drove in the runs for the Railsplitters who tallied runs early to earn the victory. 

 

Michael Lucas had the only extra-base hit for Lincoln.

 

In the second game, Lincoln used a five-run fourth inning to propel them past Annawan-Weathersfield 12-9.

 

Brayden Wurth finished 2-for-4 with a double and four RBIs for the Railsplitters. Schilling was 2-for-2 with a double and three RBIs. 

 

Lucas went 3 1/3 innings of scoreless relief to help Lincoln hold off the Titans. Lucas struck out two, walked two, and permitted two hits. 

 

With Saturday's two victories, Lincoln goes to 8-6 overall. They travel to Lanphier Tuesday for a Central State Eight matchup before more CS8 play with Normal U-High and Springfield Southeast, all on the road, next week.
