HS Baseball: Mt. Pulaski Drops Riverton

Mt. Pulaski used a five-run fourth inning to get by Riverton 9-4 Monday in non-conference high school baseball action from Mt. Pulaski.

 

Luke Martin drove in three runs for the Hilltoppers finishing 3-for-4 with a double. Landon Smith hit a two-run triple finishing 1-for-3. Liam Smith, Franklin Wade, and Tucker Fitzpatrick drove in runs.

 

Fitzpatrick, Eric Cooper, and Chance Payne hit doubles for the Hilltoppers while Cooper logged three stolen bases to Fitzpatrick's one.

 

Cooper allowed an unearned run in 4 1/3 innings. He struck out six, walked five, and permitted three hits.

 

Aaron Volle held on in the final 2 2/3 innings for the win. He allowed three runs, two were earned, on five hits with a walk and a strikeout.

 

Mt. Pulaski is 13-1 overall. They host Heyworth this afternoon.
