Owen Cavanaugh brought home two runs completing a come-from-behind win in the bottom of the 8th inning for Normal Community as they took down Bloomington High 11-10 Friday afternoon in Big 12 high school baseball from Normal Community High School.
Carter Jackson hit a home run to cap a five-run eighth inning that looked like it put the Purple Raiders in the driver's seat.
Drew Stevens brought in three runs with a double in the inning and Cavanaugh finished the game with his walk-off two-run single.
Cavanaugh finished 2-for-4 with a triple, three RBIs, and scored two runs. Anthony Gura finished 3-for-4 with a double, two RBIs, and a run scored.
Kaileb Hackman was a homer shy of the cycle finishing 4-for-4 with a double, a triple, an RBI, and scored three runs.
Ryan Thiele doubled for the Ironmen.
Ethan Eberle struck out 13 in 6 2/3 innings. The Louisville commit surrendered five runs, four were earned, walking two and permitting six hits.
Jackson paced Bloomington High going 2-for-3 with three RBIs and scored a run. Miggy Espindola doubled for the Purple Raiders. Tyler Dowding and Zach Spidle had two RBIs apiece.
Bloomington is 14-10 overall and 9-6 in the Big 12. They host Washington for a double dip on Saturday before hosting Normal Community again on Monday.
Normal Community is 25-3 overall and 13-0 in the Big 12. They take on Andrew (Tinley Park) on Saturday for a doubleheader before traveling to Bloomington High on Monday.
