Ashley Armstrong was brilliant in circle for Clinton and led the Lady Maroons to a 2-1 win over Champaign Centennial in non-conference high school softball action from Clinton Monday.

Armstrong struck out nine in six innings of one-run ball. The senior issued two walks and permitted two hits. Aliviyah Haynes struck out two in a scoreless inning of relief to preserve the win for Clinton.

Heidi Humble drove in a run and Avery Smith finished 2-for-3. Brooke Reeves was 1-for-3 with a double and run scored and Haynes finished 1-for-2 with the only walk on the day for Clinton.

The Lady Maroons 10-13 overall. They will finish the regular season by hosting Tuscola on Thursday.
