James O. Strutner, 54, of Farmer City passed away at 10:15 A.M., Saturday, April 1, 2017 at his residence.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:00 A.M., Saturday, April 8, 2017 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Farmer City, IL with Father James P. Henning O.F.M., Conv. officiating. Burial will be in St. Joseph Cemetery, Farmer City, IL. Visitation will be from 5:00 P.M. – 7:00 P.M., Friday, April 7, 2017 at Calvert-Belangee-Bruce Funeral Home, Farmer City, IL. A Rosary service will be at 4:30 P.M., Friday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to Shriners Hospitals for Children.
James O. Strutner was born July 27, 1962 in Olney, IL, a son of Oscar & Marcella Menke Strutner. He married Christy L. Followell, June 24, 1989 in Bloomington, IL.
Survived by: wife, Christy L. Strutner of Farmer City, IL; daughter, Emily N. Strutner of Farmer City, IL; son, Jacob A. Strutner of Farmer City, IL; mother, Marcella Strutner of West Liberty, IL; James’s siblings, Suzy (Tom) Lawler of Newton, IL; Barb (Larry) Thoele of Teutopolis, IL; Jane (Dave) Geltz of Ste. Marie, IL; Tony (Martha) Strutner of West Liberty, IL; Eric (Lorraine) Strutner of Shipman, IL.
He was preceded in death by his father, Oscar Strutner and niece, Alison Thoele.
James O. Strutner graduated from Eastern Illinois University earning a Management and Marketing degree of BSB. He worked for Payless ShoeSource for 30 years. He was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Farmer City, IL. James LOVED spending time with his family, gardening, landscaping, spending time outdoors, and kayaking.
