One local school district recently launched online registration.
Blue Ridge Schools have launched a program that allows students to register for classes and pay their fees online as well. Superintendent of Blue Ridge Schools Susan Wilson explains this is something the school district has wanted to pursue for some time, and this year it finally came about for them. She says students and parents can log-in to the same program they use to check grades and go to the registration tab and get signed up for classes.

Wilson believes being able to register online should make things very convenient for folks that cannot make the regularly scheduled registration dates. She notes and suggestions or comments about making the site more user friendly are welcome, she says the school wants to make the site as convenient as possible.

Online registration is a trial run this year for Blue Ridge schools. Wilson notes the district will be shrinking the amount of walk-in registration days from 2 and a half to 1 and a half. She says they will see how things go with the online registration and how many people come in to registration and take a wait-and-see approach for next year.

Walk-in registration will start August 8 from 2-8 pm. Wilson notes this registration takes place only at the high school, however it is open to all students of any school. And then August 9, registration will return to the individual school buildings.
If students are entering Kindergarten or are new to the school district, they cannot register online. Wilson says there is too much paperwork needed for those students. Otherwise, anyone student entering any grade can register online.
