CornBelters Lose

The Normal CornBelters dropped game two against the Windy City ThunderBolts Wednesday night 5-3.

The CornBelters grabbed a pair of runs early in the game.  Asif Shah singled home Daniel Cox to put Normal on top 1-0 and two batters later, Tyler Keeble drew a walk with the bases loaded to force home Steven Alexander and give the Belters a 2-0 lead.  Daniel Cox tacked on another run an inning later as he drove home Alvaro Ramirez to put Normal ahead 3-0.

Windy City stormed ahead in the 4th, taking the lead and forcing starter Brett Lester out of the game.  Chris Wade doubled home Devin Shepherd to score the ThunderBolts first run and trim the CornBelters lead to 3-1.  Lester then walked three consecutive ThunderBolts to force Chris Wade home and cut the Normal lead in half.  After a nine-pitch at-bat, Mike Torres singled home Ryan Basham and Nick Kuroczko to give Windy City its first lead of the game 4-3.

Jacob Liedka pitched the CornBelters out of the fourth inning, and cruised until the seventh when Chad Cregar plated one more for the ThunderBolts. His single brought home Zach Aakhus and gave Windy City a 5-3 lead.

Williams earned the win and improved to 6-2 going eight innings, allowing three runs, nine hits, walking four, and striking out eleven.  Lester drops to 4-3 with the loss after allowing four runs on four hits in 3 2/3 innings.
