Logan County's Mill Project Moving Forward

The Logan County Tourism Bureau's Route 66 attraction "The Mill" being transitioned into a museum continues to make headway.

In May the Abe Lincoln Tourism Bureau held a community wide garage sale to raise funds to help continue on with the project. Executive Director of the Abe Lincoln Tourism Bureau in Logan County Geoff Ladd notes the garage sale was a big success.

In the past, The Mill has struggled to stay ahead financially, however, according Ladd, right now The Mill is ahead in its finances, and now the plans can begin for the museum that will be put in it

Ladd explains the general history of Lincoln will continue to be displayed at the Lincoln Heritage Museum at Lincoln College museum. However, he says The Mill will feature the history of Route 66 and a little more of a history of Logan County that would not be found anywhere else.

Ladd says Route 66 is still a unique and well traveled road. He says businesses still continue to locate to the historic road. Ladd believes part of the uniqueness of traveling Route 66 is seeing the odd things along the road.

With the finances seemingly in order for The Mill, there is still no concrete time table for its debut. Ladd hopes however, by the end of the year to have select special feature days where The Mill can be opened and put on display.
