Friendship Center Fan Drive Results

The DeWitt County Friendship Center's Fan Drive through the month of June was yet again, a success.

The yearly Fan Drive aims to donate fans to the elderly and disabled citizens of DeWitt County, and Sissy Leggett, Executive Director of the Friendship Center says this years drive saw nearly 30 fans get donated. She notes there are still fans available, so if you did not get one to let the Friendship Center know and they will get a fan to you.

With the heat of July here, Leggett says keeping cool is vital to the health of the seniors of the community. She believes having a fan through the summer heat is a good way to maintain good health.

The yearly Fan Drive would not be possible without the contributions from the community. Leggett estimates in the past three years over 150 fans have been given out thanks to the generous donations of those in the community.

Leggett encourages anyone resident of DeWitt County who is older than the age off 55 or disable to get a hold of the Friendship Center to still receive a fan. She notes anyone who received a fan from last years drive is ineligible to receive a fan this year unless it is no longer in working condition. To receive your free fan, you can contact the DeWitt County Friendship Center at 935-9411.
