Investigation into the scene of an accident, which occurred at approximately 2:50 p.m. on Tuesday, July 12, 2011, revealed that a vehicle driven by Mark Kanavos, 51, Ottawa was northbound on Power Rd and William Smith, 38, Farmer City was traveling west on IL Rt 54. Kanavos stopped at marked stop sign and preceded though intersection and failed to yield right of way traffic. Smith then collided with Kanavos. Kanavos had no visible signs of injuries. Smith was taken to Dr. John Warner Hospital by ambulance. Kanavos was issued citations for Failure to Yield – Stop or Yield Intersection. Kanavos was issued a notice to appear and was released.
