Kenney Church VBS Raises Money For Joplin

One local church's Vacation Bible School program raised funds to help the victims of the Joplin, MO tornadoes.

Kenney Christian Church teamed up with the Texas Christian Church to support Heights Christian Church in Joplin Missouri. Director for VBS at Kenney Christian Church, Linda Coleman explains there are 70 children under the age of 10 that have homes that are either completely destroyed or unable to be fixed due to the recent tornadoes that ripped through the Missouri city.

Coleman explains this was the first year Texas Christian Church joined with Kenney Christian Church in VBS. She says they were approached last year in perhaps joining the two churches together for this years VBS program. Coleman says things worked out very well joining the two together.

Approximately 50 kids were able to raise $740, which then was matched by Kenney Christian Church for a total donation of almost $15-hundred to the families of the 79 children of Heights Christian Church in Joplin.
