Dr. Tom Pliura of LeRoy Announces Candidacy for Illinois Senate

DeWitt County will have another candidate to consider for the 51st State Senate Distrcit.

Dr. Tom Pliura (pronounced plura) of LeRoy has announced his candidacy for the Illinois Senate. He will represent the newly redrawn 51st Senate District which includes DeWitt County. Dr. Pliura says he is frustrated with the way things are being run in Illinois and he believes it is time for ordinary citizens to step up who normally wouldn't.

Dr. Pliura has taken an oath that he will not run for more than two full terms should he be fortunate enough to be elected to the Senate. He believes the things he has to say may shake things up.

Dr. Pliura believes the citizens of central Illinois are tired of the arguing and fighting in politics. He says he is going to try to stay away from personal attacks on his constituents and to try to run a clean campaign.

Dr. Pliura says he will focus on issues such as agriculture, health care and creating jobs. He also would like to join in the cause to pass a conceal carry law in Illinois. Current Illinois State Representative Chapin Rose, of Mahomet is also running for the Senate seat in the 51st District, putting two Republican candidates on the ballot. A Democrat candidate has yet to step forward.
