No Discriminating in Lake Springfield Clubs

It was discriminatory behaviors that led the Springfield City Council to implement  a new ordinance Tuesday night.  A new law bans private clubs and organizations on Lake Springfield from discriminating on the basis of sex.  The move comes after The Anchor Club and the Motor Boat Club refused to allow women to join.  Officials at the Council of Lake Clubs say both clubs are in the process of changing their bylaws so women can become active members.  According to the new ordinance, the only groups not affected are the Boys and Girls clubs.  That means even some religious groups will have to examine their membership policies.
