Business Recruiters in Nebraska Tempt Illinois Firms To Move

Business recruiters from Nebraska are still trying to persuade Illinois businesses to either relocate to or expand in the Cornhusker state.

Numerous states have been targeting Illinois businesses this year because of recent tax increases there.

Illinois' governor approved a plan in January to increase the state's personal income tax from 3% to 5% and boost the corporate tax rate from 4.8% to 7%.

The Greater Omaha Chamber of Commerce says a team of business recruiters went to Illinois in August and met with 89 business executives. The chamber's Phil Phillips says the recruiters emphasized the stability, low operating costs and financial incentives available in Nebraska.
