Clinton Police Department Purchases Highlight This Evenings Clinton City Council Meeting

The Clinton City Council will convene this evening for their second September meeting.

The Clinton Police Department could be the center of attention this evening as they have several items on the agenda. The Department is seeking the approval of the Council to purchase four pairs of "Fatal Vision Goggles". Clinton Police Chief Mike Reidy explains the goggles are used to teach teens the risks of driving under the influence.

The Department will also be looking to sell three police vehicles with over 100-thousand miles on them. Recently the department made a vehicle purchase thanks to a grant they received. Chief Reidy says the cars will remain in possession of the Department until they complete a training excercise later this month.

The Department would also like to make a purchase to help out their K-9 area. Chief Reidy explains they would like to purchase a concrete pad for where they keep the dog. He feels this will make keeping the dogs area clean much easier.

>The Council will also discuss removing asbestos from the property they acquired on East Julia Street. They plan to tear down the house on the property, however, the asbestos must be removed first.

>The Council will look to approve a facade grant on the South side of Save-A-Lot.

The Council meets this evening at 7pm in City Hall.
