AFSCME Urges Lawmakers To Slow Down

AFSCME officials are accusing state officials of rushing through the process to close seven state facilities.  Council 31 spokesperson Anders Lindall says COGFA is not giving people enough time to plan to attend the meetings.

He says a lack of adequate planning prevents the public from speaking up.  COGFA announced the Rockford meeting with less than a week's notice. Lindall says thousands of jobs, local economies, and vital public services are on the line and it would be tragic if the people who'll be impacted aren't given a chance to express their concerns.  Lindall says COGFA's actions don't meet the standard of transparency and accountability.  He wants them to slow the process down and make sure people are given enough time to make plans to attend the hearings.
