A judge in central Illinois has sentenced a Mattoon man to 42 years in prison for sexually assaulting a boy while babysitting him.

Judge James Glenn handed down the sentence Wednesday, saying he was struck by Robert Craig's lack of remorse. Glenn accused the 57-year-old defendant of making excuses and blaming others.

During his sentencing hearing, Craig denied assaulting the boy and asked for a new trial, claiming his defense attorney didn't use all of the evidence he had.

Craig was convicted of predatory criminal sexual assault of a child in September after jurors deliberated for about 30 minutes.
