2 Men get 45 Years for Bloomington Armed Robbery

A judge has sentenced two men to 45 years in prison for a 2008 armed robbery in which they broke into a home, held a couple at gunpoint and stole more than 20 handguns from their private collection.

Clarence Thompkins and James Manuel were sentenced Wednesday. Both are 22 years old.

Barbara Hopper told the court that she feared she and her disabled husband would be killed when the men broke into their Bloomington home.

Police believe Thompkins knew about the guns because he worked for the company that moved the couple into the home five months earlier.

Prosecutors say several guns were recovered but others remain unaccounted for. They say the men also used 1 of the guns in a second break-in.
