Lincoln Looking To Restore Two Old Victorian Homes

The City of Lincoln will be embarking on restoring two Victorian Homes downtown.

Two homes one block east of the downtown Lincoln square are right next to each other and are mirror images of one another. Lincoln Mayor Keith Snyder explains, recently the city announced plans to get the community involved in restoring the houses.

Lincoln High School students a part of the trades program next fall will have the opportunity to take part in restoring the homes. Mayor Snyder notes traditionally the students in the program take on building a new home, so this will be a new experience for them.

Mayor Snyder explains the homes once restored will be turned over to a non-for profit group. He says the proceeds from this project though will go to other down town projects in the future. He hopes this is just the beginning of what could be a domino effect for the City of Lincoln.

Mayor Snyder says structurally the building is sound. The foundation is still in good shape, he says it just a little bit of work, but looks forward to the challenge and working with the different groups and businesses to get the project done.
