ISU, Bradley Fall in MVC Action

Joe Ragland scored 15 points and Wichita State used a fast start to defeat Illinois State 75-72 on Tuesday night.

Toure Murry scored 14 points and Garrett Stutz had 12 points and 10 rebounds for the Shockers (13-3, 4-1 Missouri Valley), who scored the first 11 points and raced to a 22-5 lead. Ragland scored 5 of his points in the opening 11-0 run.

Illinois State (11-5, 3-2) rallied behind Nic Moore, who scored 20 of his 23 points in the second half. The Redbirds trailed 47-28 with 14:42 to play, but a 24-6 run got Illinois State within 53-52 with 4:05 remaining. But Moore and Tyler Brown, who had 13 points, later missed 3-pointers that would have tied the game.

Stutz and Murry each made a pair of free throws in the final 30 seconds to seal the win.

Jackie Carmichael had 13 rebounds for Illinois State.

>> Drake Tops Bradley

Ben Simons scored 21 points to lead four Drake players in double figures, and the Bulldogs defeated Bradley 82-74 on Tuesday night, handing the Braves their eighth loss in a row.

Rayvonte Rice had 19 points, Kurt Alexander scored 17 before fouling out and Jeremy Jeffers had 11 points for Drake (9-7, 2-3 Missouri Valley). Kraidon Woods grabbed 14 rebounds for the winners.

Taylor Brown led all players with 28 points for Bradley (5-12, 0-5). He also had 12 rebounds. Walt Lemon Jr. scored 16 and Dyricus Harris-Edwards added 15 points for the Braves, who led by 10 early before Drake trimmed Bradley's lead to 34-33 at halftime.

There were 53 fouls called in the game, 29 on Bradley. Drake was 28 for 40 at the free-throw line, led by Rice's 13 of 18, while Bradley made 24 of its 35 foul shots.
