Decatur Man Gets 25 Years In Fatal Shooting

A Decatur man accused of fatally shooting a contractor during a dispute over work done on a home has been sentenced to 25 years in prison.

The sentence 60-year-old David Bauer received Tuesday was part of a plea bargain with prosecutors. He'd faced a possible life sentence in the Oct. 19 shooting of contractor Alan Goodwin.

Before the sentencing, widow Lisa Goodwin told the court that she and her three children have suffered greatly since her 46-year-old husband was killed. The Goodwins had celebrated their 24th anniversary two days before the shooting.

Prosecutors say Bauer's mother was talking to Goodwin about work done in her home when Bauer shot him three times. Goodwin managed to call police and told a dispatcher he'd been shot. Bauer then fired at him again.
