Illinois State Treasurer Dan Rutherford (ROO-ther-ford) is touring the area this week.
The Treasurer is hosting a series of "Cash Dash" events and appearances in Macon, DeWitt, Logan and Champaign County on Wednesday and Thursday this week. Rutherford encourages local residents to take advantage of the events to determine if the state is holding any money or unclaimed property entitled to them.
Wednesday Rutherford is in Lincoln over the noon hour, and his staff will hold a Cash Dash from 11:30am to 1:30pm at Rusty's Clubhouse in Lincoln. The Treasurer will then head to Clinton for an appearance at City Hall around 1:30pm. A Cash Dash will take place at Clinton City Hall Wednesday from 1 to 3pm. Rutherford wraps up his Wednesday with a stop at the Decatur Civic Center at 3:30p, and his staff will host a Cash Dash there from 3 to 5pm.
Thursday Rutherford heads to Champaign County with a stop in Fisher at the First National Bank at 9:30am, and Cash Dash staff are on hand from 9 to 11am. He then heads to the Hawthorne Suites Hotel in Champaign to speak at the Kiwanis Club luncheon there at noon. Cash Dash staff will be on hand from 11am to 1pm at that location.
Another way to find out if you have unclaimed property through Cash Dash is to visit the treasurer’s website at www.treasurer.il.gov and follow the Cash Dash link.
