The DeWitt County Development Council had a successful 2011 and is looking forward to 2012.
Ruth Stauffer, Executive Director of the DC-DC, updated the DeWitt County Board last night at their regular monthly meeting on their organization's activity over the past year. The goal of the group is to increase economic development within the county. Stauffer adds adding and retaing jobs in the county is another aspect to the organization that is sometimes overlooked.
Stauffer notes another major project for the DC-DC in 2011 was keeping an up-to-date business and jobs inventory for DeWitt County. She says it's surprising the number of businesses located within the county, and the organization tries to work with the businesses to find out any needs they may have and try to find ways to assist them.
Looking to the future, Stauffer feels there are several attainable goals for the group. She right now they recently acquired a 24 acre agribusiness sight and are seeking potential prospects to come to the area.
The City of Clinton, along with DeWitt County and Farmer City, are the primary funding sources for the DeWitt County Development Council.
