As heard on 95.9 FM, the Monticello Sages went on the road tonight and came away with their fifth straight win, a 61-52 road victory. The Sages jumped out to a 22-13 lead at the end of one quarter of play before stretching things out to 40-24 at half and led by 20 almost halfway through the 3rd quarter. The Sages shot 66% from floor with 38 points in the paint. They were led by six-foot-eight-inch junior Matt Kruses' 22 points. Kendal King added 14 points and five boards and Nick Stokowski chipped in 13 points and seven rebounds. The Redskins had only one player in double figures, Micah Plank's 18 points led the way. With the win the Sages improve to 8-9 overall and are now 4-2 in Okaw Valley Conference action. The Redskins drop to 7-10 and are 3-3 in conference play. The Sages will play host to Argenta-Oreana in their next two match-ups. The first will be Tuesday evening in a regular Okaw Valley Conference match-up, then again next Friday in the first round of the conference tournament.
