Teen Pleads Guilty To Factory Fire

A Peru teenager has pleaded guilty to setting a fire that destroyed part of a building that was once home to a clock factory in northern Illinois.

In a plea deal reached between defense attorneys and the LaSalle County state's attorney's office, the 15-year-old on Tuesday entered a blind plea in La Salle County juvenile court to one count of aggravated arson. The attorneys said they reached no agreement on a sentence. A hearing is scheduled for March 6, before Associate Judge Daniel J. Bute.

The boy is accused of helping set fire to the Westclox building on New Year's Eve. He is not subject to prison time in the Illinois Department of Corrections.

His alleged accomplice, 17-year-old Steven Gallacher of LaSalle, has been indicted on an aggravated arson charge.
