Trial In Beason Killings Delayed Again

The prosecution of 2 men charged in the deaths of 5 members of a family from the central Illinois community of Beason has been put on hold.

The case is being delayed so attorneys can resolve issues related to legal costs.

The Logan County judge handling the case didn't give any specifics Thursday but noted the matter involved representation for Chris Harris. He and his brother, Jason Harris, are charged with murder in the September 2009 deaths of Ruth and Rick Gee and 3 of their children.

The judge also told lawyers he's been working behind the scenes to find resources to help with defense costs, including contacting law firms that sometimes provide free services and law schools. He says the efforts haven't been fruitful.
