CCHS Class of 73 Has Eyes Set On Finish Of Peace Park Project In 2012

One local group is hoping to wrap up a project they have been working on for several years this summer.

The Clinton High School Class of 1973 has been diligently at work on their Peace Park project on West Main Street in Clinton for several years now, and things are beginning to look like this may be the year they are able to turn a long time city space into a nice city park. Member of the Class of 73 Cris Rogers explains the Roque Court project is probably the most notable project they have embarked on, but there are many other things they are involved in.

The original property was once a roque court many decades ago, but in recent years was not kept up and just became a city owned property before the Class of 73 stepped in. They received permission and a small amount of financial aid from the city to turn the park back into a roque court and named it "The Peace Park Project". Rogers explains they have the building, parking lot, fountains and light poles restored, and now they need to landscape and put a roque court in and the project is pretty much complete.

The Class of 73 puts great effort into being responsible with the funds they receive, whether it be from organizations or individuals. This Sunday the Class of 73 will be doing something new, they will be having a fundraising breakfast at the Shack. Rogers says members of the Class of 73 will be on hand to serve and portions of the profits from the Shack will go towards the Class of 73.

To donate to the Peace Park Project, you can drop a donation off at City Hall or with Cris Rogers. He asks to have it made out to the Class of 73.
