Local Housing Authorities Receive Improvement Money

U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) Secretary Shaun Donovan recently awarded public housing authorities in Illinois more than $128 Million that will be used to make major large-scale improvements to their public housing units.

Today’s grants are provided through HUD’s Capital Fund Program, which provides annual funding to all public housing authorities to build, repair, renovate and/or modernize the public housing in their communities. This funding can be used to make large-scale improvements such as new roofs and to make energy-efficient upgrades to replace old plumbing and electrical systems.

The following housing authorities in Illinois will receive this funding:

Peoria Housing Authority, Springfield Housing Authority, Housing Authority of Champaign County, Decatur Housing Authority, Menard County Housing Authority, DeWitt County Housing Authority, Logan County Housing Authority, Housing Authority of the City of Pekin, Housing Authority of the City of Bloomington, and Housing Authority of Piatt County.
