ISU Wins; Bradley Loses

>> ISU Edges Oakland

Jackie Carmichael had 25 points and 19 rebounds Saturday and Illinois State defeated Oakland 79-75.

Carmichael's basket with 17 seconds remaining gave Illinois State a 77-75 lead. He made a pair of free throws with 4 seconds to play to complete the scoring.

The Redbirds (17-11) of the Missouri Valley Conference trailed 26-14 before rallying in a game that was part of the BracketBusters event. Jon Ekey had 19 points and eight rebounds and John Wilkins had 12 points for ISU. Carmichael had 19 of his 25 points in the second half.

Reggie Hamilton led the Golden Grizzlies (15-14) of the Summit League with 34 points, including six 3-pointers, and eight assists. Travis Bader had 18 points, but only two after halftime, for Oakland.

Ben Averkamp had 19 points and 10 rebounds to lead Loyola of Chicago to a 56-44 win at Bradley Saturday night.

The Ramblers (7-19) have won 2 of 3 after an 11-game losing streak in the Horizon League.

Loyola played the BracketBusters series game without its second-leading scorer and rebounder, Walt Gibler, who is out with a shoulder injury. Joe Crisman scored 10 points on Saturday for the Ramblers.

Jalen Crawford scored 12 points and Walt Lemon Jr. added 11 points for Bradley. The Braves (7-22) of the Missouri Valley Conference have lost three straight and 9 of their last 10.
