DCRA/Lincoln Heritage Receives Funding From Exelon

A couple local organizations were recently the beneficiaries of the generosity of the Exelon.

The DeWitt County Restoration Association (DCRA) and Lincoln Heritage of DeWitt County were recently awarded money for their various projects in the Clinton Community. Exelon Communications Manager Bill Harris calls helping the local community one of the best parts of his job.

Exelon not only is known for their financial support, but also the volunteer-ism they show in various ways throughout the year to the communities they are involved in. Harris is already looking to the spring for employees of Exelon to lend a hand at the Magill Hotel in Clinton.

Doug Brisard is a member of the DCRA. He says throughout the year they have a tough time maintaining a steady balance of money. He feels the recent $17-hundred donation by Exelon is going to be a great help in their efforts to restore the downtown structure.

The DCRA also recently received $150-thousand as a part of an expiring TIF from the City of Clinton to help in their restoration efforts and to oversee a developer into the property.

The Lincoln Heritage of DeWitt County is a committee of the Clinton Area Chamber of Commerce & Tourism Bureau organized in 2006 to promote Abraham Lincoln history through education and tourism by sharing with local residents and visitors alike Lincoln's many connections to and experiences in Clinton and DeWitt County.  Exelon Nuclear / Clinton Power Station's donation was for four thousand dollars to the Lincoln Heritage Committee in honor of Lincoln's Birthday.
