Clinton BOE Names New High School Principal

The Clinton Board of Education has named the new High School Principal.

Dr. Candice Swift will join the district beginning July 1st. Dr. Swift comes from Canton High School where she is the current Principal. She feels the success of the high school is going to make her new position a nice fit.

In the search for a new Principal at the high school, the Board of Education was seeking a candidate who would work with the Board in their push to incorporate technology in the classrooms. They were also seeking a candidate who would encourage students to become more involved in extra-curricular activities. Dr. Swift says she will work to find where the district currently stands with their technological push and work to do her part in the area of technology.

Superintendent of Clinton Schools Dr. Jeff Holmes feels Dr. Swift's experience at the high school level and the energy she brings is going to make her a nice fit. Dr. Swift is a former Division I athlete at Bradley University. Dr. Holmes feels that experience will help her in relating to encouraging students to go out for sports and other activities.

Dr. Swift is eager to move her family to Clinton and begin her work at the district.

Current High School Principal Ron Connor will be retiring at the end of the school year. Dr. Swift takes over as High School Principal July 1 at a salary of $96-thousand.
