Can Ambulance Situation Have Impact On DeWitt County Economic Development?

Would you believe the Ambulance issue is important to the economic development of DeWitt County?

When potential developers are looking for a place to settle, they look for several things. Ruth Stauffer of the DeWitt County Development Council says developers look for quality of services. Services such as schools, police, fire departments and hospitals. She says because of this the DCDC is watching the ambulance issue very closely.

The DCDC works with area realtor's to provide information online about the properties they have available for development according to Stauffer. The website also contains information about the various assets within the county as well.

Another asset within the county Stauffer says potential developers look at is school districts, parks and tourist attractions. Stauffer says developers are very aware of the issues facing families as well.

Stauffer says while currently smaller communities are losing populations to bigger cities because of the job opportunities in the bigger cities. She says eventually that trend will turn back around and people who once left their small town homes will return.
