Meet The Candidates - Night Two

Tuesday night DeWitt County residents had the opportunity to meet and ask questions to the candidates running in Districts C and D.

Of the seven District C candidates, Terry Hoffman and David Newberg, both challengers and Republicans on the ballot were on hand to speak.

 width=Hoffman said he is running to bring some common sense to the County Board and to bring a voice of the people as well.

 width=David Newberg also spoke and said his goal as a County Board member would be to continue to keep the County financial stable.

Candidates from District C not on hand Tuesday evening were Democrats Michael Bray, Russell Davenport, and Scott Nimmo. Also Republicans Leon Owens and Ron Savage Jr.

 

 width=Melonie Tilley, current DeWitt County Board Chair, and a Republican seeking re-election was the first to speak from District D. Tilley says in the past year and a half she has learned a lot as Board Chair.

Jay Wickenhauser was the final candidate to speak. Wickenhauser is on the Republican ballot and is running as an incumbent in District D. He has graduated from high school in DeWitt County and has lived and been an active member of the community for many years.

Candidates from District D not on hand include Republican Pete Daugherty and Democrat Rita Sue May.

The event was co-hosted by the DeWitt County Farm Bureau and the Warner Public Library. Both the Farm Bureau and the Warner Library do not endorse any candidates or political party.
