DJWH Using Loan To Make Mandated Upgrades

The Dr. John Warner Hospital has a couple of projects they have been mandated to take care of.

The City owned hospital has to upgrade some of their electrical work. CEO of the DJWH, Earl Sheehy explains the hospital Board approved for them to pre-apply for a loan through the USDA.

The USDA loan will be a low interest loan for the hospital. Sheehy explains the city of Clinton will not be responsible for the loan and they currently have a loan already out with the USDA. He says they will roll that loan into the one they are applying for. The hospital's debt will increase but their annual payment will decrease.

The hospital has applied for $1.5-million dollars. Sheehy believes the electric work will be less than a million but he explains there are other projects around the hospital's property they are looking to use with the rest. Two being a new parking lot at the physical therapy building and some floor work in the Rural Health Center.

Sheehy explains there is plenty of money in the Rural Development fund with the USDA, but they need to get the pre-application in before the government comes in and starts taking unused funds away.
