The Cardinals finalized their season opening roster by placing pitcher Chris Carpenter on the 15-day disabled list.  The veteran right-hander has battled a nerve irritation all spring that has caused weakness in his throwing shoulder.  Carpenter did not pitch in a game at all this spring. The Cardinals are in Miami as they prepare to open the regular season tomorrow night against the new-look Marlins.
