Folks in Sangamon County can step it up when it comes to living a healthy lifestyle.  A recent survey ranks Sangamon number 68 out of the state's 102 counties in terms of mortality and morbidity rates.  There were about two thousand more premature deaths in Sangamon County compared to the national benchmark and 18-percent of its residents have poor or fair health.  When it comes to being physically, mentally, and financially healthy, Sangamon fares pretty well, coming in at 16 out of 102.  The study was conducted by the University of Wisconsin's Population Health Institute and the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation.  A spokesperson for the health institute says county officials should look at the findings to determine how they can find balance and improve the quality of life for each of its residents.
