COUNTY- Ambulance Work Session April 12 Preview

The DeWitt County Board is seeking public input as it prepares to address the community's ambulance service issue.

The Dr. John Warner Hospital is ending its ambulance service at the end of the year, and voters overwhelmingly passed a tax referendum in March to allow DeWitt County to have the necessary funds to operate a new service.  Board Chair Melonie Tilley says the county is moving forward in the process by having a community meeting Thursday, April 12th, to discuss the issue.

Tilley notes several key decisions face the County Board.  She hopes the public turns out Thursday night to let officials know what type of ambulance service they would like to see the County pursue...whether it be non-profit, for-profit, or some other setup.

According to Tilley, those wishing to discuss the ambulance issue can present oral or written comments to the Board.

Tilley plans to form an Ambulance Service Committee within the DeWitt County Board, and hopes to take the results of Thursday's work session to the full County Board meeting on April 26th.  She has previously stated that county officials hope to have an ambulance plan in place by the end of the summer.

Again, the DeWitt County Board will hold a public work session on the ambulance issue on Thursday, April 12th, at 6pm in Courtroom A of the DeWitt County Building.  The public is encouraged to attend.
