The clean up of the old MGP factory on Washington Street is nearing completion.

Leigh Morris, Senior Communications Executive with Ameren, explains Ameren is moving contaminated material from the site. They found more material than they were expecting, so the project has been prolonged but by June the project should be wrapped up and Clintonians who make their way by the area will see a grassy lot.

Morris says the process has been very routine. This type of project is nothing new to Ameren nor the crew working on the site. Other than finding more materials than they were expecting, he calls the process very textbook.

Finding the excess materials has delayed the completion of the project a couple months. Originally, Ameren was hoping the site would be finished by the end of March.
