Wind Proving To Be Good Investment

Wind energy is proving to be a good investment in Illinois.  It helped save Illinoisan's about 100-million dollars last year.  Kevin Borgia [[bor-jha]], with Wind on the Wires, says that's because wind energy has no fuel costs so generators can bid very low prices for electricity.

Recent studies show wind energy in Illinois is saving consumers about 100-million dollars a year and creating jobs across the state.  Borgia adds the growth of renewable energy has major benefits for Illinois communities.

Borgia says coal and other energy companies don't have the luxury of bidding as low as wind generators because they have to take fuel costs into account.  There are more than 25-hundred megawatts of wind generation in Illinois but Borgia says wind growth is in danger of tapering off unless Congress extends a Wind Energy Production Tax Credit.
