Bloomington College Student Died Of Hypothermia

An Illinois Wesleyan University student's death at an off-campus fraternity event was caused by hypothermia.  A new report from a forensic pathologist shows hypothermia killed Illinois Wesleyan freshman Brandon Landau, but Winnebago County Coroner Sue Fiduccia says "acute alcohol intoxication" was a contributing factor.  Landau was a member of the Sigma Pi fraternity.  He was last seen alive at a Sigma Pi event nearby and had a blood-alcohol level above point-085, Fiduccia said.  He was found unresponsive March 4th in a creek at White Pines State Park in Mount Morris.  That's about 130 miles north of the IWU campus.  The fraternity has been suspended for three years for "serious violations" of the IWU student code of conduct.  Meanwhile, a special IWU task force is studying policy changes for off-campus events.
